Per questa seconda edizione del FE+SK book award abbiamo quasi raggiunto le 200 candidature. Un risultato che ci onora e per il quale vogliamo ancora una volta ringraziare tuttə coloro che hanno partecipato. Come lo scorso anno il livello dei progetti è stato veramente alto e non è stato facile scegliere il vincitore tra i 10 finalisti.

Dopo un’attenta revisione di tutti i progetti in shortlist, la giuria (Chiara Capodici, Tim Clark e Milo Montelli) ha selezionato il progetto vincitore del FE+SK Book Award:

DEAR KAIROS, di Simon Bray

Dear Kairos è un lavoro molto solido e ben costruito. E’ un tentativo di riflettere attraverso una sequenza di immagini sulla natura più profonda della fotografia, utilizzando un luogo come pretesto e come punto di partenza per svolgere un indagine sul ruolo del fotografo e su come questo possa influire sul determinarsi degli eventi esterni ed interni. Il modo in cui le immagini dialogano tra loro permette a chi guarda di essere parte attiva nel fluire della sequenza e di interrogarsi a sua volta sul proprio ruolo, generando di conseguenza anche una importante riflessione circa le relazioni tra il mezzo fotografico, la rappresentazione e il trascorrere del tempo.

Presenteremo il libro durante le giornate inaugurali di Fotografia Europea, vi aspettiamo a Reggio Emilia il 28, 29, 30 aprile e 1 maggio-

For this second edition of the FE+SK book award, we almost reached 200 applications. A result that honours us and for which we would like to once again thank all those who participated. As last year, the level of the projects was really high and it was not easy to choose the winner from the 10 finalists.

After a careful review of all shortlisted projects, the jury (Chiara Capodici, Tim Clark and Milo Montelli) selected the winning project for the FE+SK Book Award:

DEAR KAIROS, by Simon Bray

Dear Kairos is a very solid and well-constructed work. It is an attempt to reflect through a sequence of images on the deeper nature of photography, using a place as a pretext and as a starting point to carry out an investigation into the role of the photographer and how this can influence the determination of external and internal events. The way in which the images dialogue with each other allows the viewer to be an active part in the flow of the sequence and to question himself in turn about his own role, consequently also generating an important reflection on the relationships between the photographic medium, representation and the passage of time.

We will launch the book during the opening days of Fotografia Europea, in Reggio Emilia on 28, 29, 30 April and 1 May.
