The call for Fotografia Europea 2021 is open now, so you can take part in this year’s Festival, called “On Earth and on the Moon/Make way for dreamers!”, due to take place in Reggio Emilia from 21st May to 4th July 2021, with an outdoor preview on 14th May.
This year, we decided to focus on exhibitions that can be enjoyed at any time, regardless of the situation we will be in. That’s why the Open Call, which has always been a way to give visibility to European photographers, will be moving outdoors too.
Who can take part in the contest?
Any photographer, curator or European (or Europe-based) collective of any age, with a project that explores this year’s theme from a creative and unusual perspective.
The deadline to submit your entry is 22nd February 2021 at 01.00pm CEST.
All entries will be assessed by the members of the artistic committee of the Festival: Diane Dufour, director of Le Bal Paris; Walter Guadagnini, director of Camera Torino and Tim Clark, editor of 1000 Words magazine.
What’s the prize?
The selected project will be exhibited at a show worth up to 3,000 euros that will be set up in Piazza Frumentaria, and the exhibition will be included in the official programme of the Festival.
+++ The prize will cover the production, installation, travel, and board and lodging on the opening days. The winner will work side by side with the staff of the Festival in the development of the final installation +++

Born in 2015 to give the possibility to deal with an international festival, our Call is now a consolidated appointment. It’s an opportunity to increase visibility in Italy and not only: after Fotografia Europea exhibition, many artists have received important awards also abroad.
The Festival has always supported the public call and has always been committed to enhancing the winning projects with site-specific research, experimenting together with the artist.
