Bruno Pulici, ST()MA
In plants, the stoma is a system that allows the exchange between what is inside and what is outside: it is a threshold, an opening, a gateway.
ST()MA is a project that deals with constant change and offers a reflection on perceptual difficulties, interpreted through music, video and mere images. Originally conceived as a musical composition by Calcagnile, it then became a video through collaboration with Pulici. The outcome is an oneiric visual concept leading to the discovery of themes that provide the inspiration for music. Claustrophobic images, images of great scope, surreal and realistic, combine through constant changes of perspective and scale. The resulting effect is a feeling of precariousness: the spectator is constantly called upon to decipher what is on view, keeping up with the dizzying pace of change.
The show ends with an installation: musical tempo gives way to space while at the same time the prints of all the video’s still frames illustrate the full complexity of the project.
