Atelier dell’Errore

Atelier dell’Errore

Open Studio

During the Festival of European Photography and alongside the opening of the project by Elisabetta Benassi at Collezione Maramotti, for the first time the studio of the Atelier dell’Errore BIG will be open to visitors. The Atelier dell’Errore BIG is a group of young people over 18 who meet every week at Collezione Maramotti to draw together. In recent months the Atelier has seen an increase in participants and is making new works. Besides a selection of drawings illustrating the young artists’ production – works on a white background, mostly irregular in shape, housed in wooden boxes – the exhibition includes the more recent works on a “black background”, showing an interpretation of the capital sins from an entomological point of view. A screening will be held of the photographic documentation of the Atelier’s latest productions, where the close-up viewing of the lines and drawings turns into an abstract suggestion, offering a possible interpretation course and a journey inside the creating process behind these drawings.

The Atelier dell’Errore was founded in 2002 at the initiative of artist Luca Santiago Mora for the children in the care of the Reggio Emilia children’s neuropsychiatry department and it was opened also in Bergamo in 2013.

The Atelier dell’Errore BIG – housed at the Collezione Maramotti – is a specialist training and vocational school working in the field of Visual Arts, open to those who attended the Atelier dell’Errore for many years and who, turning 18, no longer have the possibility to continue the activities and cultivate their artistic talents there.

The Atelier has few but very precise, rules: no erasers – every mistake has a value – and animals are the only subjects of the drawings, which are often made collectively. Atelier dell’Errore has participated in many shows and events linked to contemporary art in Italy and abroad.
