Arrigo Dolcini

MARINA DI RAVENNA NEGLI ANNI ’50 E ’60

curated by Alessandra Dragoni and Gabriele Pezzi

From a survey of the photographic archive owned by the Classense Library that counts about 25.000 images was born the exhibition Arrigo Dolcini, Professione Fotografo, on display at the MAR Museum of Ravenna from 28 April to 30 June 2019.

Arrigo Dolcini, born in 1908, worked between the 40es up to the 70es as a photographer in Marina di Ravenna, in an atelier and film shop called Foto Nettuno. He sometimes moved from there to take pictures at wedding and baptism celebrations, birthday parties, news and, most of all, at the beach of Marina di Ravenna, where people loved to be seen lying on the water’s edge.

Curator Alessandra Dragoni – photographer in turn – tries to understand the view and method of the artists but, most of all, his inclination for the human that clearly arises in his portraits both taken in his atelier and outdoors.
