L\u2019invenzione fotografica fu invece salutata come l\u2019avvento della informazione obiettiva. I cronisti possono mentire, gli scatti sul campo dovrebbero riprodurre una scena vera. Eppure, la ricostruzione storica dimostra che proprio le foto pi\u00f9 famose sono il risultato di artifizi. La nuova tecnica, nata per aiutare il vero, scivola al servizio della propaganda, alleandosi al falso. Il libro discute otto foto divenute celebri. Le quattro che rappresentano \u201ceroi\u201d provengono da messe in scena. Possiamo invece credere alle altre quattro: riproducono bambini, che ignorano gli scopi nascosti. Questa rassegna anticipa il problema della post-verit\u00e0, oggi centrale.
