Nday\u00e9 Kouagou. Heaven\u2019s truth<\/i><\/b><\/h2>\n<\/div>

In conjunction with this year\u2019s Fotografia Europea festival, titled <\/span>Ghosts of the Moment<\/span><\/i>, Collezione Maramotti is presenting the first solo show in Italy by Parisian artist Nday\u00e9 Kouagou. It brings together recent works and others made specifically for the exhibition, including a new project inspired by the narrative device of photo comics.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kouagou\u2019s creative practice, which moves between visual art and performance and is often inhabited by the artist\u2019s alter ego, hinges on language. The texts that he authors \u2013 which seem familiar, muddled and tongue-in-cheek, all at once \u2013 are the catalyst at the core of videos, installations and live exhibitions that gradually yet forcefully reveal the instability of language, the opacity of words, and the shifts in meaning that are intrinsic to communication in the media and among individuals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Through dialogues, monologues, questions and statements that avoid any clear definition of their own subject, Kouagou touches deep chords in the conscious and unconscious mind, exploring individual and collective choices and attitudes toward the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a disorienting narrative experience that is both playful and existential, the artist leads visitors through a journey with no destination, where the landmarks seem hazy or even completely illogical.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

His works prompt a meditation on truth (real, potential or imaginary), vulnerability, unease and power dynamics, probing the intricate contradictions of our subjective reality and the paradoxes of today\u2019s world.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

Nday\u00e9 Kouagou<\/strong> (1992) lives and works in Paris.<\/span><\/p>\n

He has presented solo shows at many international art institutions, galleries and fairs, including, most recently: Buro Stedelijk, Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Art Basel, Statement, Basel; Le Nouveau Printemps, Toulouse (2025); Gathering, London; Westf\u00e4lischer Kunstverein, <\/span>M\u00fcnster (2024); FRAC \u00cele-de-France, Paris; Fondation Louis Vuitton, Paris; Sundy, London (2023). The group exhibitions in which he has participated include: Galerie Crone, Vienna (2025); Fragment Gallery, New York; Sanatorium Gallery, Beyo\u011flu; Transmediale, Berlin (2024); <\/span>Kunstverein Braunschweig, Braunschweig; Magasins G\u00e9n\u00e9raux, Paris; Gathering, London (2023); Neuer Aachener Kunstverein, Aachen; Nir Altman, Munich (2022). His performances have been staged in a range of settings, such as MOMA Warsaw, Warsaw; Contemporaine de N\u00eemes, N\u00eemes (2024); MUDAM, Luxemburg; Palais de la Porte Dor\u00e9e, Paris (2023); Theater aan Zee, Ostend (2022); Move Festival, Centre George Pompidou, Paris; T293, Roma; Wiels, Brussels (2021); Ariel Feminisms, Copenhagen (2020); Centrale Fies, Dro, Italy (2019); Lafayette Anticipation, Paris (2018).<\/span><\/p>\n
