Sono entrambi raduni inquieti, fuori dagli schemi\u2026 la normalit\u00e0 del quotidiano viene come sospesa, e tu sperimenti brevi istanti di totale libert\u00e0.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vinca Petersen<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><em>Raves and Riots<\/em>\u00a0<em>Constellation<\/em>\u00a0riunisce una collezione di\u00a0<strong>fotografie diaristiche<\/strong>\u00a0significative, tratte da un periodo che va dal 1990 al 2004, in cui vengono documentate le esperienze dell\u2019artista come parte della comunit\u00e0 dei<strong><em>\u00a0free party<\/em>\u00a0e dei<em>\u00a0travellers<\/em>.<\/strong>\u00a0Le immagini contrappongono il senso di evasione ed euforia di questo momento culturale unico, al clima politico oppressivo che mise fuori legge gli stili di vita dei responsabili della scena rave britannica.<br \/>\nDopo l\u2019esplosione dei rave, della techno e dell\u2019ecstasy nel 1989, l\u2019ondata dei<em>\u00a0free party<\/em>\u00a0ha entusiasmato la generazione dei giovani britannici. Sebbene il movimento fosse nato dalla musica e dall\u2019edonismo, divenne presto un veicolo di\u00a0<strong>disobbedienza civile e di sfida all\u2019autorit\u00e0<\/strong>, come testimoniano le immagini di Petersen.<br \/>\nDopo che il\u00a0<em>Criminal Justice Bill<\/em>\u00a0del 1994 cre\u00f2 un ambiente ostile, Petersen e le persone a lei pi\u00f9 vicine adottarono uno stile di vita nomade, trasportando potenti sistemi audio in tutta Europa su convogli di camion, organizzando feste in luoghi di campagna ai margini delle aree urbane. Nonostante l\u2019importanza iconica del movimento, la documentazione fotografica della scena rave \u00e8 scarsa, poich\u00e9 la comunit\u00e0 era diffidente nei confronti degli estranei per paura di ripercussioni legali, per cui le macchine fotografiche venivano regolarmente confiscate. Lavorando con macchine poco appariscenti, la prospettiva da insider di Petersen \u00e8\u00a0<strong>a volte contemplativa e senza fronzoli, e altrove frenetica<\/strong>. Le opere di Petersen nascono da un profondo impegno sociale e politico con le comunit\u00e0 sottorappresentate, dando loro voce e riconoscimento. Il suo lavoro cattura i movimenti free party e traveller, mescolando fotografia, materiale d\u2019archivio e attivismo sociale. Tra i progetti principali figurano No System (1999), Future Fantasy (2017) e Deuce and a Quarter (2018), che raccontano la vita on the road e la sfida della scena rave alle norme sociali. Petersen ha co-fondato l\u2019associazione di beneficenza Future Youth Project (2010-2024) e continua il suo lavoro creativo e comunitario dall\u2019Isola di Skye, dove attualmente vive e
